Around the world, every year, millions of people die or suffer complications from injuries due to lack of timely assistance. A Red Cross survey showed that up to 59% of deaths from injuries could have been prevented if first aid had been provided before the emergency services arrived. In some cases, performing CPR and defibrillation can even more than double the chances of survival.

As President of the Monaco Red Cross since 1982, I am deeply convinced that first aid is a key element of response to the current and future needs of the world.

It enables resilience within communities globally by enhancing preparedness for accidents of everyday life, as well as large-scale disasters.

In June 2022, the 192 Red Cross/Red Crescent National Societies adopted the “IFRC First Aid Vision 2030” which establishes a concrete and operational roadmap, that we must collectively implement for a safer world.

Joining our forces is the most effective way to go further.

I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to first aiders around the world for their dedication and their courage in helping saving lives.
