Kris Tharris

Consultant for Guidelines 2025 Project

Kristopher works as a consultant specialist for the Guidelines 2025, leading the project and supervising international working groups. He’s been from 2018 to 2020 the project lead for the International First Aid, Resuscitation, and Education Guidelines, supporting the steering committee of international volunteers in this project.

Kristopher has worked with the Canadian Red Cross in volunteer and staff capacities for the past 15 years. He is a Certified Management Consultant, member of the Ontario College of Teachers, and holds Masters degrees in business administration and educational technology. He is a doctoral candidate in educational leadership, studying accountability in virtual teams.

Kristopher has lived and worked in North and South America, Europe, and Africa. He is based in Ottawa, Canada where he lives with his husband and four children.

Daniel Meyran

Scientific advisor

Dr Daniel Meyran is a Scientific Advisor for the GFARC and in that regards, he has been a member of the First Aid Task Force for the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) since 2017 and a contributor to the Evidence-Based Working Group (advanced first aid manual for Africa for example).

Daniel Meyran received his medical degree from the University of Montpellier in 1984. Following specialty training in anesthesia and surgical resuscitation, Dr. Meyran completed fellowship training in disaster medicine and health disasters at Toulouse University as well as the Clinical Toxicology and Drug Side Effects program at Marseille University in 1989.

Dr. Meyran is a practicing emergency physician at the Montpellier hospital and he has worked in the Emergency Medical Services (SAMU) of Montpellier. He serves as the Emergency Medical Services Director for the Fire Brigade of Marseille and is the National Medical Advisor and one of the administrators of the French Red Cross. He is the project manager for the Basic Life Support, Automatic External Defibrillator and Advanced Life Support national curriculum for the Interior Ministry of France.

 

Francois Febvay

Pro-bono consultant for marketing in first aid

Francois is a semi-retired manager, working as a pro-bono consultant for the GFARC. He has an MBA from York University in Toronto, and has been working in the healthcare industry during his professional career (Bio-Merieux, Laerdal, Philips) where he managed different subsidiaries in different countries, amongst others in France, UK, Norway, Germany and Japan.

In parallel, he held different responsibilities in various organisations involved in student exchanges, sports clubs, and activities in his village.  He is also a keen cyclist, and is looking forward to spending more time with his 8 grandchildren.

 

Željko Malić

Advocacy for The Guidelines

Željko Malić is the Senior Officer for First Aid at Slovenian Red Cross since 2017. He also helps the GFARC in the field of advocacy (for The guidelines to be used and adopted by Governments) and first aid and children.

He is a registered nurse (RN) and is now in the final phase to finish his master’s degree in nursing care. In 2010 he had been seconded to a leadership role of EMT I.

Željko brings with him experiences as a paramedic, team leader, instructor, educator, and advocate within First Aid. He strives to perfection and to excellence. Like Lombardi once said, “if we chase perfection, we can catch excellence”. He has an open mind for new ideas, knowledge, and critical thinking skills.

Furthermore, he has been a volunteer with the Slovenian Red Cross for over then 13 years. He had published First Aid articles in different journals.
