Training of Trainer of Trainers at the Senegalese Red Cross

August 10, 2023

From June 19th to June 23rd 2023, a training of trainers was held in Thiès, Senegal. For the training, three Master Educators of GFARC were there as co-facilitators: Gregory Jouvion (from the French Red Cross), Claude Fabbretti (from the Monaco Red Cross), and Daouda Savadogo (from the Burkinabe Red Cross). They accompanied and prepared not less than 30 participants from all over the country. Zoom on these 5 days of intense training.

Teamwork makes the difference in the face of ToT challenges

The objective of the training was to refresh the first aid trainers regarding their first aid techniques and their pedagogical skills.

The day before the start of training was specifically reserved for introductions and preparation of the course, which is essential for further training. During the 5 days of training, multiple sessions took place (team building activities, debate activities, sharing of experiences, microteaching sessions, supporting learning and coaching sessions, etc.) so that the participants can be ready and confident for the final evaluations.

Facilitators as well as participants were satisfied with the ToT. Even though participants struggled with self-evaluation, micro-teaching, debriefing and pedagogical techniques, they managed to build a group cohesion, progress during the course and get involved in the training thanks to their desire to learn, which enabled them to excel. They all were excited to receive their certificates and celebrated as a team. We wish them every success in their future trainings.
