Re-launch of the First Aid Vision working groups

January 11, 2023

Last June2022, the IFRC new First Aid Vision and Policy were adopted at the 2022 General Assembly. Therefore, to achieve our ambitious roadmap for the development of first aid worldwide, the Global First Aid Reference Centre is eager to support National Societies to accomplish our goals.

To continue our journey towards 2030, the Steering Committee and working groups restarted their meetings on a new format, expanding participation to ensure more inclusion of different National Societies.

Each technical working group is dedicated for a priority area of the six priority areas of the First Aid Vision: Commercial first aid – First aid education and training – First aid in operations or pre-hospital health care – First aid in schools – First aid standards and qualification – Research, evidence, evaluation, and promulgation.

The aim is to start developing action plans as well as tools to operationalize the Vision. Members will have the role to facilitate the extensive development of each topic to produce an output ready to be used by all National Societies. They will also be share their experience according to the subject. The Groups are chaired by a representative from a National Society agreed upon between members and is coordinated by GFARC’s collaborators: Ms. Karen Brodeur Trotter and Ms. Stacey Ryan.

We believe that your National Society could take part in the working group to have an input in the six key areas. Such participation is very valuable and will definitely be helpful to contribute to shape the future of first aid. We appreciate your availability for virtual calls of 1h30 once a month to ensure a representation of the National society’s point of views in the development of tools. We hope that you and your National Society will be willing to be part of this collective renewed ambition and commitment.
