Americas First Aid Regional Meeting

In order to reach its ambition to work closely with National Societies and answer the needs of the field according to the context, the Global First Aid Reference Centre organises ‘Regional First Aid Meetings’ since its creation, consisting of a series of sessions for Red Cross and Red Crescent National Societies first aid focal point of each region. From the 5th to the 7th of July 2022, took place the online regional meeting for Americas, in collaboration with IFRC Regional Office and ICRC.

The goal of these meetings were;

  • To discuss and recommend initiatives to contribute to ensuring good quality of first aid program.
  • To share good practises, tools and innovations in the development of first aid knowledge, education and services.
  • To explore and agree knowledge sharing mechanism among first aid managers in the region and globally.

The Regional Meeting consisted in three hours’ sessions during three days. This meeting was part of the “repositioning first aid at the centre of the IFRC strategy” initiative. Discussed topics were commercial first aid, blended learning and the harmonization first aid pack consisting of the 2020 First Aid guidelines, the GFARC online platform and the International First Aid Attestation (IFAA).  You can have more information on the dedicated webpage here.

GFARC shared its latest achievements and also checked how to provide better support to National Societies. In order to better engage the audience, simultaneous translation was available in English and Spanish.
