The International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) hosted its annual face-to-face meeting in Brisbane, Australia, from May 30 to June 1, 2023. This highly anticipated event brought together all six of ILCOR’s Task Forces, including the Global First Aid Reference Centre (GFARC). With a focus on updating guidelines and recommendations for various domains of resuscitation, the meeting promises to pave the way for improved global emergency response efforts. The participation of the Centre holds significant importance as it plays a crucial role in shaping first aid practices and policies internationally.

The International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation, is a collaborative initiative comprising multiple organizations, including the American Heart Association, the European Resuscitation Council, and the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada. ILCOR’s primary objective is to evaluate and disseminate the latest scientific evidence related to resuscitation and emergency cardiovascular care.

The Global First Aid Reference Centre’s being represented in the meeting by Dr. Pascal Cassan, Head of the Centre and Dr. Daniel Meyran, Medical Adviser.  The Centre’s participation is significant for several reasons. Firstly, it ensures that the first aid domain receives due attention alongside other resuscitation disciplines. It serves as a global reference, providing valuable input on first aid practices tailored to diverse cultural and regional contexts.
