This year, from 23 to 25 March 2022, the First Aid Expert Group of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies of Eastern Europe, Central Asia and Caucasus had a face-to-face meeting, organized by the Red Crescent Society of Uzbekistan and with the support of the ICRC.
Main discussions were on :
- the advocacy towards States in order only quality first aid courses are recognized ;
- how to measure first aid courses effectiveness ;
- how to increase the number of trainings in pandemic period of COVID, particularly to companies ;
- first aid in conflict situations…
GFARC attended the workshop for sharing its latest achievements and also for seeing how to support more the National Societies who had the opportunity to provide an update on their first aid activities. The most emotional moment was when the group could exchange on-line with Nadia, our colleague in Kiev, staff of the Ukrainian Red Cross. This meeting was also an opportunity to give to Elena and Diana their GFARC diploma as Master educators hoping to be able to give it soon to Nadia who also succeeded in this role.
At the end of the workshop, plans were edicted for the year to come including the work on a regional curriculum to become first aid trainer.
