General Assembly 2022 : launching of the Technical Working Groups to reposition first aid at the centre of the IFRC’s strategy

Last year, the IFRC announced its initiative of repositioning first aid at the heart of its 2030 strategy and vision. In order to seize this opportunity, a joint initiative for a renewed commitment, vision and policy for first aid has been proposed to the 192 National Societies of the Movement.

This initiative is being developed in preparation of the General Assembly 2022 and involves the creation of 8 working groups on various themes (e.g. first aid at school, first aid, education and training, first aid, research and advocacy, …).
These working groups started their work on Thursday 29 July with the support of the Global First Aid Reference Centre.

Their goal is to :

  • Revise and update the IFRC first aid policy
  • Develop the IFRC first aid Vision 2030 including the implementation priorities and framework.
  • Increase communication and advocacy efforts: through various events throughout the year and workshops during the General Assembly with National Societies and IFRC.
