Aligned with key education frameworks, this workshop builds on the Movement’s efforts to ensure safe, continuous, and equitable access to education, especially in emergencies. It’s part of the 2023 GEN training and workshop series and draws from lessons learned in pilot projects conducted across national, regional, and global levels. This workshop aims to strengthen the community of practice and response in education during emergencies. It provides a platform for peer exchange, enhancing technical skills, improving advocacy for education in emergencies, and contributing to deliverables of three sub-thematic working groups.
It covers education for all ages during crises, including early childhood development, primary, secondary, non-formal, technical, vocational, higher, and adult education. Education in emergencies provides protection and sustains lives in conflicts, violence, displacement, disasters, and health emergencies.
The workshop includes training sessions, operational exercises, and group work focusing on strengthening capacity, developing tools, and enhancing policy, advocacy, and partnerships. Topics include fundamental principles, protective aspects of education, access to education, and advocacy.
