Disaster Risk Reduction is a key area of work for the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. It complements its response efforts by working with and for communities to reduce risks and prevent disasters from happening – and ensures that, if they happen, the impact is limited. The Disaster Risk Reduction Working Group was founded in 2002. It is an informal body with no statutory status within the Movement, with the objective to capitalize on the Disaster Risk Reduction expertise within the Movement through the sharing of information, good practice, resources and tools. In 2021, the WG is being revamped to make it more strategic and more inclusive.
This year the meeting will take place Face-to-face from 28 February-2 March 2023in Brussels, Belgium. The Global First Aid Reference Centre will participate and make a link between Disaster Risk Reduction and First Aid.
